Sound Lo-fi clips & demos can all be played with the popular Windows Media Player as streaming audio over the web. There’s more information on the sound demos if you need it. These clips replace my old Real-Audio streaming audio clips as to my ears WMA files sound better at low bit rates and the player is so popular now. Some clips are new excerpts too. Bit rate is very low and suitable for 56K modem dial-up connection.

MP3 versions of sound clips are also included as an alternative to the Windows Media Player files. Useful for example if you only have Apple’s iTunes player which doesn’t support WMA files. (There is a free Mac version of Windows Media Player available from a MS link on the more information page though if you really need it). NEW CDs...
Two recent CD releases have been added to the catalogue. Details can be found via the above CD section link. The albums are called “Sun Dance” and “Void”. These two very contrasting albums are my tenth and eleventh releases. “Void”, which is a fairly (for me) unusual abstract electronic music album has actually been slowly in the making for some years and it is pretty much a coincidence that it was completed roughly at the same time as “Sun Dance”. I’m currently working on album 12 but this is a long way off being finished.

Internet Explorer 7 has new security features and default settings that may try to prevent you playing simple sound samples off the web or from seeing the good old Internet Explorer menu bar .
If there is no menu bar anymore, press ALT to make it appear. Go into “view” and select toolbars > menu. It should now show as normal in future. If the moving banner at the top of this page is not working it is likely that streaming sound samples will also be initially blocked by IE7. To fix the problem you can go into “tools” on the menu bar, into “internet options” ,and select the “advanced” tab. Scroll down the bottom and look under “security” for the tick box marked “allow active content to run files file on my computer” If you tick it, it will allow sound samples from this and other web sites to play without hindrance. Unless that is, you also are running the lovely Windows Vista. I which case you may experience further problems discussed below.

Windows Vista Bug and Windows Media Player. Some people cannot get Windows Media Player to play Mp3 and WMA files off the web. They get “web page unavailable” or just a MP3 save window. Fortunately there is an easy fix for this Vista bug......
Navigate from start (windows button) > control panel > associate a file type or protocol with a program icon. Open it up. In here scroll down to mp3. It will probably show windows media player as the default player option for mp3. Don’t believe it!! Double click on the line and in the window that opens select windows media player regardless of what it showing. Click OK and return to the list. Scroll down to the WMA file and repeat the above steps. That should do it.
